2. Bookings and payment
Workshops are booked online on lisbontilepainting.com. Your place is confirmed once your payment has gone through and you have received a confirmation email. Prices are shown in euros and include all materials, artistic guidance and the kiln firing of your tile or tiles.
3. Cancellation and refund policy
- Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your workshop. If you cancel at least 48 hours before the start time of your session, you get a full refund.
- Less than 48 hours before the workshop. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the start time, and no-shows, are not refunded.
- How to cancel. Send an email to hello@lisbontilepainting.com with the name used for the booking and the date and time of your session. The time of your email is used to check the 48-hour deadline.
- Refund method. Refunds are made to the payment method used for the booking. The time it takes to appear on your account depends on your bank.
- If we cancel. Some sessions may be closed for low attendance or for reasons beyond our control. In that case we let you know as early as possible and offer you another time slot or a full refund, as you prefer.
4. A handmade tile: what to expect
Your azulejo is painted by hand, by you, using the traditional majolica technique, then fired in our kiln at high temperature. This is a craft process, not an industrial one. Clay, glaze, pigments and firing all react in their own way, which means the finished tile can show small imperfections, such as:
- slight changes in colour compared with what you painted;
- small bubbles, dots or uneven areas in the glaze;
- minor irregularities on the edges or the surface;
- in some cases, a crack that appears during firing or cooling.
These variations are part of the nature of handmade ceramics. They are what makes each tile unique, and they are not considered a fault in the workshop or a reason for a refund.
5. If your tile cracks
A crack can happen even when everything is done right. If your tile cracks during firing, we glue it back together with care and set it in a cork frame, free of charge. The cork frame holds the tile firmly, protects the edges and makes it easy to display at home.
This repair and framing is our compensation for a cracked tile. It does not give the right to a refund of the workshop or to a new session.
6. Collecting your tiles
Under normal conditions, your tiles are ready for collection the next day (please allow 30 hours for the 10:30 workshop). Pick-up takes place during the opening hours of POP, the shop that hosts the workshop. Kiln issues can occasionally cause a delay; if this happens, we tell you promptly.
If you cannot come back, we can deliver your tiles to your hotel in central Lisbon (€25) or in Cascais or Sintra (€40), or ship them abroad at a cost that depends on the destination. Once your tiles have been handed over to you or to the carrier, we are no longer responsible for any damage that may occur.
7. Questions
